A woman was shot dead in the Sultanabad Gulodas area of Gilgit earlier today, police officials confirmed. The victim, originally from Baseen, was married in Sultanabad.
According to police sources, the woman died on the spot after being shot. Following the incident, her husband fled the scene, while two brother in laws were taken into custody by the Danyore Police for further investigation.
SSP Gilgit Zahoor Ahmed confirmed that one suspect has been detained, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the second suspect, who is believed to be the victim’s husband.
While initial reports on social media suggested the woman had been slaughtered, police have denied these claims. Authorities stated that the victim was not beheaded but died from a gunshot wound.
The motive behind the killing remains unknown. Police investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
